In addition to his career coaching practice in Oakland, where he enjoys a 96% client-satisfaction rate, Marty Nemko writes the On the Job column on kiplinger.com and is Contributing Editor for careers at U.S. News & World Report, which called him, "career coach extraordinaire." The San Francisco Bay Guardian called him, "The Bay Area's Best Career Coach." For years, Marty has been answering KGO listeners' career questions on the Ronn Owens Program and Ronn calls him "unstumpable."

Key to Marty's unstumpability is that he's had many careers before becoming a career coach. He may have been the world's youngest professional bar-room piano player (Picture a callow 14-year old leading a bunch of drunks singing When Irish Eyes are Smiling.) He was also a New York City cab driver, medical researcher, teacher and drug counselor in New York City, school psychologist in Tiburon, U.C. Berkeley Ph.D. who taught in its graduate school, San Francisco Chronicle career columnist, rose hybridizer, and avocationally, an award-winning play director and an actor. (His mother also claims that he was reading the New York Times at age 3, although that could be the exaggeration of a Jewish mother.)

And you can get a three-minute career makeover from Marty Nemko here on KGO, every Sunday night from 7 PM to 10 PM. Whether you're looking for a job, trying the make the most of the one you have, have a self-employment question, or still have no idea what you want to be when you grow up, Marty can probably help you.

Marty is married to Dr. Barbara Nemko, Napa County Superintendent of Schools, the 2009 Woman of the Year for her congressional district. They have one child, who was an intern in the Clinton White House.
