PERSONALITIES

Lynn Jimenez

Lynn Jimenez keeps the San Francisco Bay Area up to date on "Your Money" every weekday morning as KGO Radio's Business Reporter, a position she's held since January 1990.

Jimenez has worked on both sides of the media fence. Prior to joining KGO, she was a manager of media relations for Pacific Bell, now AT&T, in San Francisco. There, she was an integral part of a team that developed California's first statewide Hispanic AIDS education television program and telephone hotline, a program that garnered a Presidential Citation for private sector initiatives.

She has more than two decades of experience in radio and television. Before joining KGO, she distinguished herself as an award-winning reporter for KCBS radio in San Francisco and KIRO radio in Seattle.

Her work at KGO is award-winning as well. Jimenez was part of the team honored for coverage of the City's Gulf War riot and the Oakland Hills fire. She was also among those honored with the 2004 and 2005 Edward R. Murrow Award for best Morning News. Among her other awards: the Associated Press Bill Stout Memorial Award for Enterprise Reporting; the Northern California Radio Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) award for Best Series, "Privacy," and another RTNDA award for her series, "A Gift of Life"; the Golden Gate Chapter AWRT 2005 Kudos Award of Excellence for Best Radio Reporter.

Recently tapped as permanent substitute host for Bob Brinker on the nationally syndicated radio program MoneyTalk, Jimenez has served previously as KGO Noon News co-anchor, and has often stepped in to handle breaking news. She received the 2008 Small Business Hero award from Small Business California, the 2008 Latino Business Leadership Award from the San Francisco Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the San Francisco Business Times, and the National Consumers League 2009 Florence Kelley Consumer Leadership Award.

Jimenez is also author of ¿Se Habla Dinero? The Everyday Guide to Financial Success, published in 2008 by John Wiley and Sons. This family financial guide is written in English and Spanish.

Jimenez is a member of the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation Board of Directors, sits on the Advisory Board of the School of Business at the University of San Francisco, and serves on the board of Clinic by the Bay, a volunteer powered health clinic for working uninsured people.
