  Ed Baxter

Ed Baxter co-anchors KGO NEWSTALK 810’s Morning News, weekday mornings from 5am to 9am after spending more than two decades being on the air in the afternoon.  Ed has the reputation of using common sense to get to the heart of the subject.  The KGO Morning news is built around news and information that helps people wake up to the Bay Area.  Ed usually does half a dozen interviews every morning dealing with news, politics, health and pop culture.  His incisive way of asking questions has drawn many an answer that creates news.

2003 and 2004 have been very lucrative in the award category.  His peers have garnered nearly a clean sweep.  The Associated Press Best Newscast ….The Associated Press Best Anchor team.  The Radio and Television News Directors Edward R. Murrow award for Best Newscast in the western region of the United States and The National Radio and Television News Directors Edward R. Murrow award for BEST NEWSCAST IN THE NATION.

In Ed’s career at KGO he has garnered scores of awards covering every aspect of news reporting, writing, investigative and anchoring.  While he was anchoring the KGO Afternoon news, it won the Best Newscast awards most all of the years including at least six in a row.

Ed has also regularly substituted for ABC’s Paul Harvey on the number one news broadcast in the world.

Ed loves news and takes it very seriously, but he says he tries not to take himself too seriously.  He says flatly, “Information is what it is about.  That can be hard news or showbiz.  I want our listener to know what is going on after he or she does us the honor of spending time with us.”

Ed lives in the East Bay with his wife.  They are the parents of four.  He is an avid tennis player when she gives him the permission to play.
